About Daniel Butt

Daniel Butt is twenty-one years old and lives in Melbourne, Australia. He is currently in the final year of a Bachelor of Animation and Interactive Media at RMIT.

After completing his Victorian Certificate of Education in 2007, Daniel started his degree at RMIT the following year with the intention of pursuing a career in art or animation. However, very early in his course he became more interested in the potential of interactive media.

Daniel enjoys working with interactive media because it engages audiences in a manner that other mediums cannot emulate and involves both artistic abilities and technical skills.

In his first year of studies at RMIT, he started up a graphic/web design business with a fellow student at the university, Lyndsey Fisk. Through their business, Cibolt Creative Studios, Daniel and Lydnsey have designed websites and created logos for a number of local businesses, acquiring valuable business skills and experience in the design industry.

In 2009, Daniel co-founded a student journalism website, News Hit, with his brother, Craig Butt. The site has since developed a large community and includes articles, a group blog and columns. Daniel created the site, handling all aspects of web design, web development and graphic design. He also designed and built News Hit Abroad, a side site for Monash University’s 2010 Overseas Journalism Study Program.

Daniel’s interests include art, interactive media, soccer, cricket, going to the gym, military history and aviation.
