About Nikita Vaz

I'm the crazy Indian who studies Journalism & Photography at Monash. I've always wanted to go abroad for further studies, so after I finished my 12th grade in India I decided to come here to study Journalism.

My passion for photography first started with taking pics of myself. Yep! I'm self acclaimed narcissist. My co-editor for a newsletter I used to publish back home was a media genius who taught me a few things about photography and Photoshop. Soon, I was pretty much the camera maniac who decided that every moment of my life and my friends' lives should be captured on digital film!

Early this year I realised that I could do a double major & hence began my exciting quest to learn all I could about photography. It began with early morning compulsory lectures and ended with 20 cents in my wallet. Along the way came fashion shoots & crazy experiments in the dark room. So far, it's been an awesome experience. Photojournalism is something that I'm quite passionate about and I do believe that one picture can speak more than a thousand words.

Other than asking my friends to hold still and basically stop breathing for a few minutes so that I can capture a 'candid moment', I like living for the moment. I'm spontaneous and I'm always up for anything (unless it involves roller coasters and sushi). I'm the happy-go-lucky crazy chick who did 150 on a bike at Apollo Bay.

Most of my meagre earnings go on either photography, shoes or my growing DVD collection. I enjoy trade, especially when it involves chocolate, shoes or clothes. The only time I ever agree to a one-way trading system, where I simply receive and give nothing back in return, is on my birthday, Christmas and all the other 363 days of the year.

If music is food for the soul, then a Canon lens is definitely the way to my heart.
