The French Allure - Kookai's French Collection

Eclectic music and lyrics set the tone for KOOKAÏ’s French-inspired collection:

These boots are made for walking – ces bottes sont faites pour marcher”

With the sleek black runway positioned at Federation Square, a packed crowd watched on as KOOKAÏ made its debut at L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival.

Through signature painted prints, featuring hues of purples, reds, peacock blues and vibrant oranges, KOOKAÏ combined effortless style and timeless glamour for its 2010 Autumn/Winter Collection. Merging strong and feminine features to create an individual style for any occasion, KOOKAÏ presented a stellar range. Show-stopping head pieces, short frill dresses, skin-tight skirts, studded belts, military styled pieces and LOTS of leather ruled the runway and captivated the audience.

As the first ankle boot strutted down the runway, the collection emanated a contemporary French feel. The models donned black mini skirts and shorts with striped tanks. Metallic socks were also a dominant theme and oversized and embellished beanies completed the Parisian persona.

KOOKAÏ portrayed black and leather as a ‘must have’ for this season, with the leather jacket appearing in a diverse range of colours and styles. With these pieces, rugged met refined. The leather crop, biker and somewhat tribal inspired jacket were teamed with denim, prints and minis – with a slouch and sometimes tassled bag completing the look.

For one who still likes to party in Winter, KOOKAÏ also gave us sequins…and lots of them! Sequinned jackets, skirts, leggings and tops, paired with magnificent and innovative headpieces typified the girl who is confident in her own skin – and not afraid to show it off. Low, scooped-back tanks, strapless dresses and frills added to the look created, as the girls came out exuding glamour.

With strong silhouettes, a dash of colour, and eye-grabbing accessories, KOOKAÏ really encapsulated the ‘new look’ for this Winter. As consumers, we need a wardrobe that is practical yet stylish and essential but unique.

For me, KOOKAÏ has it all. What a fantastic debut.

I know where my boots will be walking this Winter…
