Bones - "The Boy with the Answer"
Programming: Sunday's at 8:30PM, Channel 7
Running time: 60 minutes
Rating: M
Although this episode of Bones is not what the Channel Seven promos suggest; that Booth’s son Parker has been kidnapped, it is about a kidnapping. Yes, this long awaited episode follows the trial of the Gravedigger (Deirdre Lovejoy) as Bones and the team try to put her away, for good.
Some of you may be familiar with the kidnapping of Bones and Hodgins in Season Two, as well as the kidnapping of Booth in Season Four, as the Gravedigger, or Heather Taffet as it was discovered, tried to murder them to prevent her own capture. If not, don’t fret. Knowledge of these episodes is needed only for the smaller details, as the emotions and repercussions of this trauma are shown in the character’s development throughout the trial. A trial in which Taffet holds a compelling case, and one that the jury cannot easily dismiss.
Now, back to the kidnapping. The boy, as alluded to in the promos, is another victim of the Gravedigger but his body has never been found. So how can the evidence show that it was Taffet? And how will Bones, Booth and Hodgins testify their own trauma when the role of expert witness must still be played? All of this is explained in what can be described as a real nail-biter. But let’s not reveal too much here.
With just two more episodes to end the season, this is not one to miss. For the diehard Bones fans, there is, sadly, not too much gore in this one, nor the regular humour, but the episode is compelling in ways that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
Things to watch out for are Max Keenan becoming a bit too overprotective of his daughter, Hodgins and Angela’s little secret from last episode, as well as, of course, the verdict. Seriously, the whole episode leads up to this; so time your toilet breaks well.
“The Boy with the Answer” will air on Sunday 30th May at 8:30PM on Channel 7.
